Location: Looff Carrousel in Riverfront Park

The Rosalie Murrey Memorial Foundation, a Spokane-based non-profit dedicated to providing enriching and inclusive early childhood learning experiences for children with disabilities, cordially invites you to an event where everyone can enjoy the historic Looff Carrousel. This free, family-friendly occasion welcomes all visitors on May 19 from 2-6pm. Guests are encouraged to ride the Carrousel as many times as they like during the event, with the requirement to exit and rejoin the line after each ride.

This event is open to all, with a particular focus on extending a warm welcome to children with disabilities and their families. We've selected Looff Carrousel as our venue in honor of what would have been Rosalie's sixth birthday, as it was one of her cherished places to visit. The Rosalie Murrey Memorial Foundation is dedicated to offering enriching and inclusive early childhood learning experiences for children with disabilities. This event provides us with an opportunity to engage with the community while advancing our mission. To learn more about our efforts and the inspiration behind them, click here.

To ensure an inclusive experience, several accommodations will be provided throughout the event:

  • Free pre-registration, allowing families to skip the line for quicker access to the Carrousel

  • Designated quiet space for individuals seeking respite from the crowd

During two specific hours of the event, from 2pm-3pm and 3pm-4pm, special measures will be in place to support riders with diverse needs:

  • From 2pm-3pm, Carrousel music will be significantly lowered, lights will be dimmed, and the number of riders per ride will be limited to ensure ample space.

  • From 3pm-4pm, music will be lower than usual, lights will be on, and the number of riders per ride will continue to be restricted.

For the remaining hours, from 4pm-6pm, the Carrousel will operate as usual, with full-volume music, all lights on, and no rider restrictions.

In addition to complimentary Carrousel rides, the event will offer free snacks and bottled water. Attendees can also enjoy a coloring activity and temporary tattoo station. While at Riverfront Park, families are encouraged to explore the Providence Playscape, Spokane’s first all-inclusive playground, located nearby. This playground provides children of all abilities with the opportunity to play, socialize, and grow together.

We encourage families to take advantage of the free pre-registration option, which includes:

  • Access to a special line for pre-registered guests only

  • Automatic entry into door prize drawings

  • The first 250 pre-registered families are guaranteed a free event swag bag.
